Riverview District Active Living Corridor
Community Activation & Placemaking
A $15,000 placemaking and walkability project enhancing Shelbyville’s Riverview Pedestrian Walkway with shaded seating, improved lighting, wayfinding signage and accessibility improvements. The project is designed to create a safer, more welcoming and connected pedestrian experience while encouraging residents and visitors to walk between downtown destinations.

Community Activation & Placemaking
A $20,000 Creative Placemaking grant using public art and community engagement to help activate Shelbyville’s Riverview District. The project includes a collaborative art installation, large-scale mural and community art experiences, transforming public spaces into more vibrant, welcoming places that reflect local identity and strengthen connection to downtown.

Riverview District Active Living Corridor
A $100,000, two-year Healthy Built Environment initiative focused on improving health, connection and quality of life through enhancements to Shelbyville’s public spaces. The project supports walkability, beautification, community gathering and access to healthier outdoor environments, including improvements and activation of the Riverview Pedestrian Walkway and partnerships that bring nature, wellness and community engagement into the built environment.

Our board reflects a shared love for Shelbyville and Bedford County, rooted in history, shaped by experience and driven by a deep desire to see this community thrive.
Together, we bring perspectives from education, public service, design, workforce development and civic leadership. We are parents, mentors, builders, listeners and learners. Some of us were raised here, others chose this place with purpose, but all of us are invested in its future.
